A day in the life

When thinking about what applications and sites I use most often I think about Pinterest and Facebook. Those are the two primary applications I use on a day-to-day basis.  I feel Facebook I just doom scroll on for pointless times throughout the day. When I am using this application, I find myself just looking at pictures of other people as well as reading about the things in their lives they are doing. Sometimes I do however find some way to use Facebook as a positive outlook. I do this by finding events close to me that I can take my kids to. The other application I find myself using on a day-to-day basis is Pinterest. I go on here to find dinner ideas, decoration ideas, games as well as anything to do with my kids when I’m not working. Finding something possible for my kids to do is important; especially when the weather isn’t very good and they can’t go outside.

When thinking about some negative reactions then using social media I think about Instagram and snapchat. I feel Instagram and snapchat have become such popular platforms, for the younger generations. But there has to be a time to let go? Or maybe that’s my own personal opinion. Once I hit 28 years old and started approaching 30, I found myself asking myself “why am I still using these, no one cares?” And after that I deleted all my social media except Facebook. Even Facebook I deleted people I hadn’t had much contact with in years, I deleted all the postings from my youth and I made sure to up my primary settings and make it primary focused around my family and close friends. However, few that may be. By doing this I stopped having those personal negative reactions I was feeding myself about using social media. I found myself on my phone less and less interested in things that had nothing to do with me.

I think my needs are overall satisfied when using Facebook over any other social media / digital media. I say this because it allows me to keep up to date with family whom only have Facebook, talk to my grandparent who only emails or uses Facebook. Or even find groups I can be involved in when needing. I think Facebook (for me personally) just suits and fits all of my needs. But if you were to ask me this question before having kids, and responsibilities. It would be completely different. And I’m not saying kids have changed my whole outlook on digital media, I think it has just taken a lot of my “extra” time and placing it elsewhere.

When it comes to emailing, I am a creature of habit. I delete and read all my emails in a timely manner. I filter out spam mail and I only allow emails from stores I frequently shop at. The emails that get my attention the most are ones that are directed towards target (discussing their red dot sale), sometimes Walmart (discussing any markdowns they might be having on my frequently bought items) or even amazon (obviously with shipping updates). I have emails being sent to me from so many different companies. Its difficult to stop them from sending to much mail. But I just mostly slide and delete them. I primarily choose not to receive emails from companies just because how much spam there is out there. I don’t need to know about why TurboTax Is the way to go, or why SHEIN has new items dropping. I think getting 50+ emails a day is a bit too much.

When thinking about digital media and marketing you honestly see the most interesting things. I think digital media has helped so many people sell their items and promote so much stuff. You see these influencers on Facebook as well as Pinterest promote their products. I know this is something that is flying across all social media platforms. By using these websites people are able to sell themselves as a product. By gaining ample number of followers / friends they are able to use their popularity to get desired outcomes. I have personally bought some things from a mom influence on Pinterest because they made something I thought would be interesting for my kids to have. I can only imagine how far and deep this actually goes.
